Run your own numbers before you compare anything
The pricing models here genuinely do not map onto each other:
- eesel AI bills $0.40 per ticket handled
- My AskAI claims roughly $0.10 per ticket, on a $199/mo plan
- Help Scout is $30 per user per month
- Botpress is $189/mo flat
- Tidio is $29/mo, usage-based above that
- Gorgias starts at $10/mo
- Zendesk starts at $25/mo per agent
- Ada and Forethought are quote-only
At 500 tickets a month, per-ticket pricing is cheap. At 5,000 it is not. Take your actual monthly volume, run it through each calculator, and the shortlist usually collapses to two.
If you are on Shopify
Gorgias is built natively into it, which is a real advantage rather than a marketing one — the order, refund and fulfilment context is present in the conversation without an integration to maintain. Starting at $10/mo it is also the cheapest entry here.
The claim to be sceptical about
Everyone publishes a resolution rate. Help Scout's 73% is stated plainly and is toward the credible end; the ones expressed as "up to" are ceilings measured on somebody else's ticket mix. Ask any vendor to run a trial against your real queue rather than a demo dataset, and judge the failures rather than the successes.
Do not migrate unless you have to
The most common expensive mistake here is replacing a working helpdesk to get AI that could have been attached to it. Price the add-on route first. If it gets you most of the way, the migration is a project you have not had to run.
