01In plain English
A free plan lets you use a tool without paying, for as long as you like. It is not the same as a free trial, which ends. Free plans are usually limited: fewer credits, fewer projects, a watermark on exports, or no access to the best features.
02Why it matters when you are choosing
A free plan lets you test a tool on real work before you commit, and for light use it may be all you ever need. The limits matter more than the word "free", so compare what each free plan actually lets you do.
03What to check
Check the monthly limits, whether exports carry a watermark, whether you may use the output commercially, and what happens to your work if you never upgrade.
04The tools
232 of the 386 tools we checked have a free plan. Each one is checked against the vendor's own pages. A tool missing from this list may not have been checked yet, which is not the same as a no.
