Airtable is a relational database and app-building platform that looks like a spreadsheet, with grid, kanban, calendar, timeline and gantt views, interfaces, automations and an AI assistant called Omni. What decides whether it suits you is how many records and AI credits you need, since the Free plan is capped at 1,000 records per base and plans are priced per seat.

What is Airtable?
Airtable is a cloud app headquartered in San Francisco, United States. It runs on the web, in desktop apps for Windows and Mac, and in apps for iOS and Android. You build your own workflow apps and trackers on top of a relational database without code.
Managing work in Airtable
Your data lives in bases, and you can see it as a table, list, board, calendar, timeline or gantt, plus a Form view and a Gallery view. Gantt and timeline are on Team and above. Form view is on all plans.
Interfaces are part of the product, and Interface Designer is included on the Free plan. Automations run on all plans, and the Free plan gets 100 automation runs a month.
The AI sits in two places. Omni is the AI assistant, and it answers questions over the data in a base. Field agents run AI across records, and AI fields generate and transform text in records, which is on all paid plans. AI features need AI credits and workspace-level enablement.
The AI is included in every plan through credits. Free has 500 AI credits per editor each month, Team has 15,000 per paid user, Business has 20,000 and Enterprise Scale has 25,000 at list price.
The plan you choose sets the AI allowance. Free has the smallest allowance at 500 credits per editor, and each step up raises the allowance per paid user, from 15,000 on Team to 20,000 on Business and 25,000 on Enterprise Scale at list price.
Working with other people
Airtable has a team workspace, and the Free plan allows up to 5 editors. Airtable connects to Slack, Google Drive, Salesforce, Jira, Zendesk and Google Workspace, and Airtable data can be brought into Claude. There is also an MCP server, and the Claude integration brings Airtable data into Claude.
API access is on every plan with monthly call limits, and an Enterprise API is on Enterprise Scale. Business and above add SAML SSO.
Airtable pricing: what each plan gives

The Free plan gives 500 AI credits per editor each month, unlimited bases, 1,000 records per base, up to 5 editors, 1 GB of attachments per base, 100 automation runs and Interface Designer.
Team costs $24 per seat a month, or $20 per seat a month billed annually, and includes 15,000 AI credits per paid user each month. Business costs $54 per seat a month, or $45 billed annually, with 20,000 AI credits per paid user each month and SAML SSO. Enterprise Scale is quoted by sales and includes 25,000 AI credits per paid user each month at list price. Plans are billed per seat, and the Enterprise API is on Enterprise Scale, while API access with monthly call limits is on every plan. SAML SSO starts at Business.
Privacy and security
Airtable does not use your data to train AI models: its model providers never retain your data and your data is never used for model training. Airtable has SOC 2 Type 2, and its privacy program is designed for compliance with global privacy laws, including the GDPR. A data processing addendum and EU data residency are also offered.
Support is through email, an AI help bot for chat, the community and a help center, and there is no phone support.
Who Airtable suits
Airtable suits teams that want to build their own workflow apps and trackers on a relational database without writing code. It also suits teams that want AI to run across records, since field agents and AI fields work on the data in a base and credits are included from the Free plan up.
It suits less well anyone with more than 1,000 records in a base on the Free plan, or more than 5 editors, because those are the Free limits. It also suits less well anyone who wants Omni to answer over a whole company wiki, since Omni answers over the data in a base, and anyone who needs gantt or timeline views on Free, since those start at Team. Teams with more than 5 editors need a paid plan, which is priced per seat, and Business adds 20,000 AI credits per paid user each month.
