GDPR is the European Union's privacy law. Any company handling personal data about people in the EU has to follow it, wherever the company itself is based. It covers consent, how long data is kept, who it is shared with, and people's right to see or delete what is held on them.
02Why it matters when you are choosing
If you have customers or staff in Europe and you put their details into a tool, you stay responsible for that data. A vendor that supports GDPR will sign a data processing agreement with you and help you answer deletion and access requests. One that does not leaves the risk with you.
03What to check
Look for a data processing agreement (DPA) you can sign, a list of sub-processors, and where the data is stored. A privacy policy alone is not the same thing.
04The tools
265 of the 297 tools we checked say they support GDPR. Each one is checked against the vendor's own pages. A tool missing from this list may not have been checked yet, which is not the same as a no.
