MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to other software. A tool that supports MCP can be used by any MCP-aware assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, without a custom integration for each one.
02Why it matters when you are choosing
If you want an AI assistant or agent to work inside your tools, MCP support saves you building that connection yourself. It is quickly becoming the default way AI agents reach business software.

Check whether the tool offers an MCP server (so assistants can use it), an MCP client (so it can use other tools), or both, and what permissions the connection gets.
