How the Spec Score works

Scored from what MagicSchool publishes on its own site. Not a hands-on test.

Compared with 6 AI teacher platforms. Facts checked 15 Oct 2026.

A fact the vendor does not publish gets half the points, or the typical value for a number, and says so. It never counts as a no. How we score.

MagicSchool is an AI platform for K-12 schools that pairs a large library of teacher tools with Student Rooms, where pupils use AI under the teacher's control. Whether it suits you comes down to how many of its tools you will actually use and whether you need the Plus plan's student tools or the district features.

What is MagicSchool?

MagicSchool is made in Denver, Colorado, and runs in the browser. Individual teachers can sign up free, Plus is a paid teacher plan, and Enterprise is a custom-priced plan for districts that need customization and oversight at scale.

What MagicSchool makes for teachers

The platform has more than 80 AI teacher tools, with another 50-plus tools built for students. The teacher side covers most of the planning and marking week:

  • Lesson plans, worksheets and IEPs.
  • Quizzes, including a multiple choice quiz generator and low-stakes exit tickets you can assign to students.
  • Slide presentations built from a topic, a YouTube video, pasted text, an uploaded document or existing classroom materials, with a choice of grade level and number of slides.
  • Rubrics that you can customize.
  • Differentiated materials for multilingual learners, students with IEPs, advanced learners and different reading levels.

Class Writing Feedback lets you review, personalize and send AI-generated feedback on written assignments in batches, based on your rubric. It is on every plan, including the free one. The platform also includes Raina, a chatbot.

Working with students and schools

Student Rooms are where you choose and configure AI tools, set learning goals and share them with a class. Students use the rooms and the student tools under teacher control, and they cannot chat with one another. Student Rooms are part of the free teacher plan. The full set of student tools and student learning insights start on Plus.

MagicSchool connects to Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, Clever and ClassLink. SIS and LMS integration and single sign-on are Enterprise features. Outputs export in a click to Google Docs and Google Slides. On Enterprise, District Alignment lets a school upload handbooks and curriculum documents for all the tools to draw on, and a dedicated customer success manager comes with the plan.

MagicSchool pricing: what each plan gives

MagicSchool pricing screenshot
MagicSchool, Pricing

The Free plan is $0 forever and is meant for individual teachers. It includes the 80-plus teacher tools, the Raina chatbot, quizzes and Class Writing Feedback, with standard generation limits.

Plus is $8.33 per user per month billed annually, or $12.99 billed monthly. It removes the generation cap, adds unlimited output history and editing, and adds the 50-plus student tools.

Enterprise is priced by quote for districts. It adds SIS and LMS integration, single sign-on and a custom Data Privacy Agreement.

Privacy and security

MagicSchool is FERPA and COPPA compliant, and it is also SOC 2, GDPR and Ed Law 2-D compliant. It holds the Common Sense Privacy certification and a 1EdTech certification. It signs data privacy agreements that align with district requirements, and Enterprise includes a custom Data Privacy Agreement.

On training, its privacy policy reads "MagicSchool does not use personal information to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models." Its AI providers are contractually barred from training on the data too. Support is through a self-serve help center, email for billing and account questions, and a community of educators called MagicSchool Pioneers.

Who MagicSchool suits

MagicSchool suits teachers and districts that want one K-12 platform for planning, assessment and classroom AI, with the privacy paperwork a school can approve. The free plan covers the teacher tools well enough to try on a real unit, and Student Rooms give pupils supervised AI use that the teacher sets up.

It suits less well a teacher who needs one narrow job done, since the strength here is the size of the library. Anyone who wants the full set of student tools needs Plus, and districts that want LMS integration or single sign-on need a quote for Enterprise.
