Andi is a free AI search engine that answers questions in plain language with sources you can check, drawing on its own index of about 25 billion web pages. What decides whether it suits you is whether you want a quick, private answer engine for the open web, or an assistant that also reads your files, makes images and lets you pick the model.

What is Andi?
Andi is made by LazyWeb Inc., a Y Combinator company based in San Francisco, United States. It runs in the browser on Andi's servers, and it installs as an app on a phone or desktop (on mobile, through Share and Add to Home Screen) or as a Chrome extension. It can also be set as your default search engine.
Andi Search is free, and no account or credit card is needed to use it. A paid tier, Andi Plus, is announced as coming soon with premium features for power users, with details to follow. The company also sells a separate Andi Search API for developers.
Searching with Andi
When you ask a question, Andi pulls relevant results from Trantora, its own index of about 25 billion web pages, and uses an ensemble of language models to write a direct answer with sources you can verify. Andi chooses from that ensemble itself; there is no model picker in the Help Guide or the settings. It searches the public web only and does not connect to apps such as Google Drive or Gmail.
Beyond answers, Andi can read, summarise and explain pages from your results: click Summarize on any result to get an AI summary of that page. It can also generate AI text content, and it handles calculations and conversions. The /go command takes you straight to a website or app by name, or to a site's own search results.
Deep Answers
Deep Answers is Andi's research mode for complex questions. It works like a researcher that reads up on a topic before answering, and you can set its depth to High, Medium or Low. It is an experimental feature.
What Andi does not do
Andi has no file upload; it reads web pages from search results instead. It does not make images, it does not run code, and there is no voice conversation, since questions and commands are typed. It does not carry out multi-step tasks on websites. Your search history and saved collections of results are kept in your browser, and Andi does not remember facts about you across chats.
Working with other people
Andi Search is a single-user app with no shared workspace. For developers, the separate Andi Search API gives access to the same 25-billion-page index. It includes a remote MCP server at api.andiai.com/mcp with web search and URL fetch tools, which Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code can connect to. The MCP server gives other AI tools Andi's web search, not data from your Andi account.
Andi pricing: what each plan gives
Andi Search is free forever and has no paid plan. The free app gives unlimited searches, reading, summaries and explanations of pages, AI text generation and basic support on Discord. Andi Plus is announced as coming soon, with details to follow.
The Andi Search API is a separate developer product with its own pricing:
- Developer is pay-as-you-go.
- Team is $49 a month and includes $50 of credits.
- Enterprise is priced on request.
Privacy and security
Andi's privacy promise is short: "We never use your data to train our general AI models." When you use Andi without an account, your searches are not logged. With an account, your history is stored in your browser.
Users have access, correction, deletion and export rights over their data, including rights under the CCPA; requests go to privacy@andiai.com. Support runs through Discord, a Help Guide and in-app feedback and bug report forms.
Who Andi suits
Andi suits people who want a free AI search engine that answers with sources, with no account, no card and no limit on searches. It also suits anyone who cares about privacy, since anonymous searches are not logged, history stays in the browser and Andi never uses your data to train its general AI models. Developers who need a web index for their own AI tools get the separate API and its MCP server.
It suits less well anyone who wants an all-round AI assistant. There is no file upload, no image generation, no voice conversation and no choice of model. Deep Answers is still experimental, and there is no team workspace for sharing research with colleagues.
