Topaz Labs makes AI image and video enhancement software. This page covers its photo tools: Topaz Gigapixel for upscaling and Topaz Photo for denoising, sharpening and face recovery, along with the Topaz Studio bundle and the browser app Topaz for Web. What decides whether it suits you is whether you want desktop software that renders unlimited images on your own computer, paid for as a subscription.

What is Topaz Labs?
Topaz Labs is a US company. Gigapixel and Photo are desktop apps for Mac and PC, and Gigapixel also works as a plugin inside Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. Topaz for Web runs in the browser, and Topaz for Mobile runs on iPhone.
Gigapixel and Photo are now sold as subscriptions, not perpetual licences. Each app has its own plan, and Topaz Studio bundles all five Topaz apps, video included, in one subscription.
Upscaling with Topaz Labs
Gigapixel upscales almost any image up to 6x. Its Face Recovery model is built for portraits: it enhances facial features and restores natural texture. Its Recover and Redefine models handle blurry or damaged images, and Redefine is a generative model that adds new detail and rebuilds structure. The Image plan of Topaz for Web has its own Creative Upscale workflow.
Topaz Photo brings upscaling, sharpening, denoising and face recovery together in one desktop app, for photos that need repair as much as enlargement. Gigapixel can batch process many files at once instead of working through them one by one.
The desktop apps run on your Mac or PC with unlimited local rendering, and the paid Gigapixel and Photo plans include unlimited cloud rendering as well. Cloud exports are capped at 32 MP on Personal plans and at 100 to 256 MP on Pro plans.
Video upscaling is a separate app, Topaz Video, which is also part of Topaz Studio; Gigapixel itself works on images. A Premiere Pro panel exists for video work.
Working with other people
Personal plans cover personal use and commercial use for organisations with under $1M in annual revenue. Larger organisations need a Pro licence: Gigapixel Pro adds full commercial use and seat management, and Studio Pro carries Pro licences for every app.
Enterprise plans are custom and add offline and air-gapped use and single sign-on. Developers can build on the Topaz Labs API, which covers image and video upscaling and enhancement.
Topaz Labs pricing: what each plan gives
There is no free plan. Most plans can be paid monthly, on an annual plan billed monthly, or once a year.

Topaz Video, the separate video app for Mac and PC, costs $299 a year.
Privacy and security
Topaz Labs never trains models using customer data or content. Because the desktop apps render locally, your images can stay on your own computer.
Enterprise deployments are SOC 2 compliant and support single sign-on, and the privacy policy sets out the legal bases for using personal information under the GDPR. Support runs by email, with a reply within 8 business hours or less, backed by documentation and a community forum.
Who Topaz Labs suits
Topaz Labs suits photographers who want AI upscaling and repair on their own computer, with no cap on how many images they render, and who want to work inside Photoshop or Lightroom Classic. Face Recovery and the generative Redefine model make Gigapixel a fit for portraits and damaged images, and Topaz Studio suits anyone who also works on video.
It suits less well anyone who wants to own the software outright, since Gigapixel and Photo are now subscriptions, or anyone looking for a free plan. Companies with $1M or more in annual revenue need the dearer Pro licences for full commercial use.
