01In plain English
Commercial use rights say whether you may use what a tool creates in work you are paid for, such as client projects, ads, products or monetised videos. Many tools allow it on paid plans only, and some restrict it on the free plan.
02Why it matters when you are choosing
Using generated images, music or voices in paid work without the right licence can mean takedowns or legal claims. It is one of the most common differences between a tool's free and paid plans.
03What to check
Read the terms for your plan, not the homepage. Check whether rights continue if you cancel, and whether the vendor offers any protection if someone claims the output copies their work.
04The tools
89 of the 96 tools we checked grant commercial use. Each one is checked against the vendor's own pages. A tool missing from this list may not have been checked yet, which is not the same as a no.
