PCI DSS is the security standard set by the card networks for anyone who handles card payment details. It covers how card numbers are stored, sent and protected, and how often systems are tested.

02Why it matters when you are choosing

It matters when a tool touches payments directly, such as a store builder, a checkout or a support tool that might see card details. If the tool is PCI compliant, far less of that burden falls on you.

Ask the vendor

Ask for the attestation of compliance and the level. Check whether card data ever reaches the tool itself or goes straight to a payment provider.
