Similarweb is a digital market intelligence platform built on website traffic data, with an SEO suite and AI search visibility tracking on its higher self-service plans. What decides whether it suits you is whether you want competitor traffic research first and SEO second, and whether a worldwide view is enough or you need data country by country.

What is Similarweb?
Similarweb is built on website traffic data, and competitive benchmarking is still the core of every plan: traffic, engagement, marketing channels and alerts when competitors change. The SEO tools (keyword research, rank tracking, site audit and backlinks) sit on top of that from the Competitive Intel & SEO & AEO plan up.
It runs as a web platform. A free browser extension for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Opera shows traffic, AI chatbot visits, keywords and ranking for any site you visit. A free account gives a high-level sample of the data with a limited set of features.
What Similarweb does for your SEO
Keyword research. The Keyword Generator draws on more than 5 billion keywords from Google, Amazon and YouTube, and keyword tables show up to 5,000 keywords each. Similarweb covers 190 countries, but the self-service plans show a worldwide view only, without per-country filters. Country-level data for more than 100 countries comes with the Business packages.
Rank tracking. Rank Tracker updates rankings daily and tracks down to city or zip code, along with Google Business Profile positions. Each campaign monitors five competitors, and there is no limit on keywords per campaign. Teams can track up to 200,000 keywords, with the allowance per plan set by the account manager. Local tracking covers rankings; there is no listings management.
Site audit. Site Audit checks more than 300 performance factors, on a schedule or on demand, and you set the crawl time and pages per crawl. It connects to Google Search Console so crawl data and search data sit together, and Google Analytics can be connected too.
Backlinks. The backlink database tracks 360 trillion links and 200 million referring domains, updated daily, and shows the backlink profile of any site.
The AI SEO Strategy Agent. This agent groups keywords into clusters and topics, shows a prioritized view of the clusters your content is missing, and recommends topic-level changes to existing pages. Its output is a downloadable, shareable SEO roadmap in PDF, built to brief writers. Similarweb has no article writer, no editor that scores a draft, and no internal link suggestions.
AI search visibility. AEO Intelligence covers AI Brand Visibility with 150 tracked prompts, sentiment analysis, citation analysis and AI traffic, from the Competitive Intel & SEO & AEO plan up. A separate AI Search Intelligence product is also sold.
Working with other people
All three self-service plans include 1 user. Team seats come with the Business packages, and Enterprise includes 10 users. The Integrations Hub connects Similarweb to HubSpot, Salesforce and Google Sheets, which pulls live Similarweb data into spreadsheets, along with webhooks and an MCP server. There is no WordPress plugin or Google Docs add-on.
The Similarweb API is part of the Business packages or can be bought on its own without a platform subscription; it is not in the self-service plans. Support runs by email and through the Knowledge Center contact form.
Similarweb pricing: what each plan gives
- Competitive Intelligence: $199 a month, or $125 a month billed yearly. Traffic and competitor research, with no keyword research, rank tracking, site audit or backlinks.
- Competitive Intel & SEO & AEO: $399 a month, or $333 a month billed yearly. Adds the SEO tools and AEO Intelligence, with 1 user and 6 months of historical data.
- Competitive Intel, SEO & AEO & Ads: $649 a month, or $542 a month billed yearly.
- Business and Enterprise: priced by quote, with team seats, country-level data and the API.
The SEO tools therefore start at $399 a month. The self-service plans come with a 7-day free trial that needs a credit card, and the card is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel. A free account gives limited website data, without the SEO tools.
Who Similarweb suits
Similarweb suits marketers and analysts who want competitor traffic, channel and engagement data alongside their SEO, with daily rank tracking, a very large backlink index and AI brand visibility in the same place. Teams that already work in HubSpot, Salesforce or Google Sheets can pull the data where they need it, and the MCP server opens it to AI tools.
It suits less well a solo SEO on a budget, since the SEO tools start on the $399 plan and the self-service plans carry 1 user and a worldwide view without country filters. Anyone who wants a content editor, an article writer or internal link suggestions will need another tool for that part.
